Dr. Kacey's Story...
On April 22nd, 2022, something happened that radically changed my life, forever. Days later, I submitted my resignation letter as a veterinarian and embarked on the adventure of a lifetime. I now live completely off-the-grid in the Rocky Mountains with my wife, two daughters, and a slew of rescued animals. During this time, I have learned something that I wish I had learned long ago. I am here to serve others, not myself. Before, my focus was on the "American Dream" and becoming as successful as possible. Yet, no matter how much success, no matter how many animals saved, I was still broken. Then, it happened. I was blind, but now...I see.
I still love rescuing and caring for animals. That will never change. That is the heartbeat within me. However, what I used to take for granted is the people behind the animals. The human-animal bond is very real, and very powerful. Once I learned to acknowledge the people in addition to their companions, the quality of care that I was able to provide dramatically increased.

I am not perfect, nor will I ever be. I still learn things the hard way and surely do not know all the answers. But what I do know is that it would be an honor to serve your hospital as you continue to care for pets and their humans.
